Primeiro efetivo de policiais brasileiros em Missões de Paz da ONU

O primeiro efetivo policial brasileiro a integrar uma missão de paz da ONU foi em outubro de 1991 em Angola, composto por 10 policiais militares da Polícia Militar do Distrito Federal (PMDF), na Segunda Missão de Verificação das Nações Unidas em Angola (United Nations Angola Verification Mission II, entre maio de 1991 e fevereiro de 1997).
Essa foto histórica foi tirada durante os primeiros dias da chegada de policiais brasileiros em missões de paz ao redor do mundo. Esses veteranos merecem todo o respeito pelo pioneirismo e coragem ao enfrentar algo novo e desafiador para todos os policiais do país, levando em conta a falta de informações e da tecnologia hoje disponível. Representam, com muito orgulho, um momento marcante na biografia do Brasil e de suas polícias militares, desbravando novas terras e tarefas em contexto internacional e contribuindo com a promoção da paz em Angola. Mesmo com todas as dificuldades, o país deve todo o respeito e admiração a esses profissionais, e porque não heróis e precursores de todas as demais gerações.

The first Brazilian police officers in UN Peace Missions

The first Brazilian police officers to join a UN peacekeeping mission was in October 1991 in Angola, composed of 10 police officers of the Federal District Police/Gendarmerie (Polícia Militar do Distrito Federal – PMDF), at the Second United Nations Angola Verification Mission Verification Mission II, between May 1991 and February 1997).
This historic photo was taken during the first days of the arrival of Brazilian police officers on peace missions around the world. These veterans deserve all the respect for pioneering and courage in facing something new and challenging for all of the country’s police officers, taking into account the lack of information and technology available today. They represent, with great pride, a remarkable moment in the biography of Brazil and its police departments (gendarmeries), breaking new ground and tasks in an international context and contributing to the promotion of peace in Angola. Even with all the difficulties, the country owes all the respect and admiration to these professionals, heroes and forerunners of all other generations.
